Over the past month we have had more than a few questions regarding our latest photo shoot. We like to write our explanation notes at the same time as we put a new set of stock photos up - but I seem to have missed the last two!
I have no excuses - time is flying by at the moment - I can't believe it's nearly Christmas already! So finally, I'm going to put up the explanation!
These shoots were Ona's idea - she cajoled me into travelling some 9 hours out of the city - 'straight west to find some red dirt' as she put it, I think. Actually, that's not quite right - she wanted to go much further than we did, but we didn't have the time to go 16 hours out and back again and still have time to take photos on one long weekend...
All in all, we fit a lot into the weekend - three photo shoots (and a few extra randoms), close to 2000kms, we almost ran out of petrol... twice, we had to change a flat (got quite a few strange looks when we emptied the arsenal of weapons out of our boot, to get to the spare) and even a speeding fine (totally my fault!) - but it was a lot of fun and I think we've got some really great shots out of it!
Big thanks, once again, to Torqual for helping fund our trip out by commissioning some of the photos - good to see petrol prices going down (even if the dollar seems to be following suit
The Barbarella shoot had been in the works for quite a while - we'd actually finished making the outfits about two week before, in time for Ona's sci-fi themed birthday. Ona's 'chain-mail' was an absolute nightmare - but the effort paid off (she finished the last of it the second morning of our trip!).
For those who were curious, yes, it did start off as a whole costume but it looked much better with the tears in it (after the birds had attacked her).
The Outback Apocalypse was Ona's invention - she made all the outfits (from scratch) and in return, I tried to find a quarry to shoot it at (and I braided our hair!)
Photos with blood are always fun to shoot - which explains why someone always manages to get 'injured'.
There are a few more photos to go up - but we'll probably wait a bit... I know I don't like my favourite lists being flooded...
We will be putting a few more 'Tribal Warrior' shots up (of Ona) and also a couple from an unrelated post-apocalypse shoot that were taken at an abandoned/closed silo.
Once again, thanks to everyone who has commented on our stock - we really love hearing what you've got to say & what you liked or disliked... I'm sorry we don't reply to every comment but, as you can see, it takes quite a long time to even write our journal!
For anyone who is dropping by for the first time - you're more than welcome to use our stock in anything you create (no need to ask first) - just credit us and send a link so we can have a look at what you've come up with! There have been some absolutely brilliant pictures made so far - I always love to see what other artists can come up with when they use our stock.
And now, I think I have rambled for long enough - until next time!
If you have any questions that I haven't answered -- ask here and I absolutely promise I'll reply!
Have fun
